Mt Borah

A few weeks ago Jeremy, his brother Justin and their dad James made the drive to Mackey (or somewhere around there) to climb Mount Borah. I asked Jer to post the photos of their trip along with some of the stories of what happened but.... he declined very quickly. So, I decided to post the pictures and the comments he wrote under each picture from facebook:

That mound in the middle is Borah Peak 12,668ft. It grew 7 feet in an earthquake in the 80's. After waiting for Rescue Hikers to get an injured guy through the cliffs, waiting for lightning to pass, and Justin hurting his leg it took 12hrs roundtrip. Pretty exhausting.
From halfway up the trail we are already taller than anything on the other side of the valley. Our cars are somewhere down at the bottom. very small.
Justin taking a power nap waiting for dad who was 45 minutes behind. He did pretty good for his physical condition I thought.
From the summit looking down. You have to climb that entire ridge line to get to Borah.

You have to climb across this snow bridge to get to Borah. If you slip here they can pick you up at the bottom of the mountain.

A shot from about halfway through the climb you can see Borah on the left and the snowbridge to the right.
From the snowbridge looking down. Kinda creepy to be honest. One guy slipped and fell and had to get thrown a rope.

The lightning storm that almost killed us. We ended up hiding for over an hour waiting for it to pass. We didn't even get to sign the book because there was so much static in the air I was getting shocked just standing up. The rocks around us were sizzling too. Freaky .
